Join us for a 2 week cultural study tour to Senegal in April 2009. Travel with Fodé Mané to his home village of Thionck Essyl in the Casamance region of Senegal. Once you arrive in this beautiful, tranquil village on the river, you may never want to leave!
 
The Casamance is the southern part of the country which is known for its lush scenery and relaxed pace. Thionck Essyl is the largest village with a population of over 10,000, and is situated on the Casamance river. You will be hosted by Djola families, who are known for being exceptionally warm and welcoming people.
 
Learn traditional rhythms, songs and dances with professional artists from performing arts troupe Bakalama of Thionck Essyl.
 
Workshop includes:
 
10 days of courses - 4 hours of drumming and dance daily
 
3 traditional meals a day
 
Accommodation with local families
