Fodé Mané is a professional dancer and drummer from Senegal, West Africa. He has over 15 years experience in traditional West African drum and dance and has toured extensively in Europe with an award-winning performing arts troupe.
Since migrating to Australia, Fodé has been captivating audiences with his energetic, passionate and spirited performances. He would be delighted to be able to share his exceptional talents and rich cultural traditions with your school.
Transform your class or even your whole school into a drumming orchestra! With an emphasis on fun, our drumming workshops are engaging, entertaining and inspiring.
We introduce students to the techniques of playing, and to the polyrhythmic traditions of West African music. They’ll be fascinated by the interesting cultural information about West African drums and their social context.
Using a traditional African style of teaching, students are encouraged to use their natural sense of rhythm, their listening skills, and will have their
co-ordination and memory challenged to an appropriate level.
For fitness and fun, our dance workshops combine elements of music, rhythm and song that invigorate and energise mind, body and spirit.
Depending on the program selected. students will learn traditional dance or funky body percussion, with complexity ranging from very simple steps to high energy advanced choreographies.
